Aware of its mission of producing highly competent Management and Technology graduates, the SMS Society established another centre of excellence at Lucknow, viz. School of Management Sciences (SMS), Lucknow. This organization has received B++ grade accreditation from National Assessment and Accreditation Council or NAAC (An Autonomous Institution of the University Grants Commission) Ministry of HRD Govt. of India in a very short span of 9 years. SMS, Lucknow is the only youngest Institute to have NAAC B++ Grade in Lucknow and 4th in U.P. among all other colleges offering Engineering and Management Courses.

SMS Lucknow started operating from the year 2008 with Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programme, duly approved by AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Government of India. It has been very successfully running Masters in Business Administration (MBA) programme approved by AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Government of India and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) affiliated to Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Techincal University, Lucknow. Other programmes like, Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc)-Maths, Bachelor in Vocation Studies (B.Voc.) affiliated to Lucknow University are also running at a good pace.

This institute is also running Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil) affiliated to Board of Technical Education, very successfully. Recently, SMS has added two new programmes in Diploma such as Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering affiliated to Board of Technical Education (for which proposal is under consideration).

Lucknow is the capital city of state of Uttar Pradesh. It is on the verge of a major metropolitan city of India and has always been known for its multi-culture and artistic hub of North India.

Lucknow is also blooming into an upcoming IT hub of North India with various software and IT companies residing in many parts of the city including Gomti Nagar. Tata Consultancy Services has been one of the major companies. Its campus, is the second largest establishment in Uttar Pradesh, as Software/IT park in Lucknow. Also there are many local but noticeable Open Source technology companies like Medma Infomatix. Apart from it, it also boasts some important National and State level headquarters of Sony, Reliance Retail etc. The Govt. has also planned to set up an IT city on a sprawling 100 acre lands in the Chak Ganjaria farms on the Sultanpur Road. The government has already provided SEZ status to the project which is expected to give rise to thousands of job opportunities for the state.
Lucknow has a great potential in handicraft sector and it accounts for 60% of the total exports from the state. The major export items from here are marble products, textiles, handicrafts, art pieces, gems and jewellery, textiles, electronics, software, computer, hardware, apparels, brass work, silk, leather and leather goods, glass items, art metal, chemicals. This city has also promoted public‐private partnerships in big way in sectors such as power, roads, expressways, and education.
Lucknow is one of the leading cities in India in terms of Educational/Research institutions including 7 universities, 1 technical university and a large number of polytechnics, engineering institutes and industrial training institutes. There are various other research organisations like, Central Drug Research Institute, Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences.
