Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the needs of electrical, electronics, computer, telecommunication systems and their applications in the concerned industries. This branch provides a wide range of knowledge in disciplines of control systems, signal processing, radio frequency design, micro-processors, micro-electronics, communications, power generation and electrical machines. The discipline focuses on design, development and simulation of electrical power systems, electronic devices and their applications as per the requirement of industry.
Electrical and Electronics engineers are typically involved in a wide variety of technology ranging from huge global positioning systems which can pinpoint the location of a moving vehicle to gigantic electrical power generators. These engineers are also responsible for designing, developing, testing as well supervising the production of electrical and electronic equipment and machinery. Broadcast and telecommunication systems, electric motors, controls of machinery, lights and wiring in building complexes, vehicles, aircraft, radar and navigation systems, power generation, control and transmission devices which are used by electric utilities are all examples of equipment built by these engineers. They may also work in fields which relate to computers and IT.
An Electrical and Electronics engineer earns a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering in the areas that include electronics, electrical engineering. Job responsibilities include specification, design, development and implementation of products or systems, as well as research to create new ideas. This role provides a number of challenges ranging from problem identification, fault detection and the selection of appropriate technical solutions, materials, test equipment, and procedures to design of safe, economical, high-performance products and services.

Value added courses:

For making our students industry oriented, the Employability Enhancement Program Technical (EEP Tech) is integrated into the curriculum to train them on core subjects & aptitude. Prime focus of this program is to prepare students for placement and competitive exams (GATE/IES/PSU/SSC JE). Mock interview sessions are also held by faculty members to prepare the students for interview.

Industrial visits are conducted by department for students to make them familiar with working culture and atmosphere, and to give them real time experience of any industry. Some of the visits accomplished in recent years were:
i. 765KV Transmission Substation, Unnao (U.P.)
ii. L&T Switchgear Training Centre, Lucknow
iii. Doordarshan Kendra, Lucknow
iv. Panki Power Plant, Kanpur
v. HCL IT City, Lucknow
vi. ITI Mankapur
vii. Airport Authority of India, Amausi, Lucknow
viii. Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), Lucknow
ix. TATA Motors, Deva Road, Lucknow
x. UP DIAL 100, Lucknow

Guest Lectures are organized frequently by renowned dignitaries associated from various technical fields.

Departmental Library: The departmental library offers excellent opportunities to the students to excel in the field of science and technology and is indeed an essential component of the department. In a course of a year, the students submit their project reports and dissertations in the library after completion. Besides having text and reference books, the research works are also saved in the library archive for ready reference. There are more than 200 books covering all the areas in Electrical &Electronics Engineering.

Other Activities

Students are encouraged to participate in various Inter Departmental and Inter College competitions.

Smart India Hackathon 2017:

Also Inter Departmental activities under aegis of ‘Electro-Buzz’ Society are conducted by students of department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering every semester. Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a seminar competition for B.Tech. Students on “Smart and Innovative Trends in Engineering (SITE-2018)” under aegis of ‘Electro-Buzz’ Society at SMS Lucknow on 26th October, 2018.
