Two day Orientation Programme â€“Â for the first year students of Post Graduate & Under Graduate , to benefit the students who are about to experience a new phase in their life was organised at SMS Lucknow premises from 23rd to 24th August, 2016.
In his welcome address, Dr. M. Mehrotra, Director of SMS Lucknow congratulated all the new admitted students and deliberated on the special attributes of the institute (Mission, Quality Policy, Origin, Guiding policies, USPâ€™s, Awards etc.). He also urged the students to be disciplined in life and achieve their goals of becoming successful professionals.
Mr. Srijan Pal Singh, the Guest of Honour, an aluminous of IIM Ahmedabad, disciple of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam shared the teachings of his Guru, with the students and said â€śFailures are the best teacher of a man. One should learn from his failures to rise on the path of success.â€ť
Guest of honour, Mr. Deepak Bharara, Chief Human Resource Officer, Lanco Infratech Ltd., shared the experience of his life and advised the new students to become independent in all walks of life. He also focused the needs, requirements and challenges of corporate sector and emphasized the importance of current affairs along with the subjective knowledge.
Prof. A.S. Vidhyarthi, Director, Institute of Engineering & Technology, Lucknow, was the Honâ€™ble chief Guest of the two days programme, he advised the new students that life is full of opportunities and there is no end to learning from it. He deliberated on the supremacy of Indian culture and advised the students to grab the opportunities.
Â On this auspicious occasion SMS-IMS Research Journal ADHYAYAN was also unveiled by the Honâ€™ble chief Guest on the day.
Â On the second day, Guest of honour, Mr. Rishi Kumar, Director & Center Head HCL Technologies, Lucknow started by deliberating on how to keep our inner curiosity alive, set small goals and nurture them, avoid frustration and learn from others experience and master our skills.
Guest of honour, Mr. Manish Dikshit, G.M. HR RSPL Ltd. graced the occasion with his insights on talent, skill development, channelizing of learning ability and different types of leadership.
Guest of honour, Prof M. A. Usmani, Retd. Principal ICCMRT, Lucknow spoke on the need to maintain a balance in personal and professional life. He shared his personal experiences and emphasized todayâ€™s youth is very â€śtalentedâ€ť, but lacks â€śpatienceâ€ť and is a â€śslave of temptationâ€ť. Students were advised to learn from failures and aspire to achieve their goals.
Other sessions related to different areas of Academics, Policy & Rules at SMS Lucknow were held afterwards on the first and second day of the orientation programme.
