School of Management Sciences, Lucknow, affiliated with U.P. Technical University, Lucknow jointly organized a two day International Seminar entitled “Sources of Planet Energy, Environmental & Disaster Sciences: Challenges and Strategies;” in association with The Council of Science and Technology Uttar Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow and Institution of Engineers (India) on 1st & 2nd Nov., 2014.

The aim of conference was to create a platform and facilitate knowledge sharing on Global Warming and Climate Change and how human beings can contribute to overcome the alarming situation.

The Hon’ble Principal Secretary, Dept. of Science & Technology, Govt. of U.P., Dr. Harsharan Das,, was the ‘Chief Guest’ for the aforesaid event.

The dignitaries who were present at the inaugural session were Chief Patron-Prof. (Dr.) R.K. Khandal, Vice Chancellor, U.P. Technical University, Er. V.B.Singh, Chairman, IE (I) U.P State Centre, Er. J.R. Singh- Chief Consultant Kuwait Oil Company and Prof. M.K.J. Siddiqui, Director, Council of Science & Technology U.P.,

On this Occasion, School of Management Sciences Launched “Green Quest Campaign” to increase awareness about Environmental issues amongst school students.

His Excellency Shri Ram Naik, Governor Uttar Pradesh in his message for the souvenir said, “I am indeed happy to learn that the School of Management Sciences, Lucknow in Association with Council of Science & Technology, Lucknow & U.P. Technical University is organizing an International Seminar. The subject is of vital importance to our Nation. The Seminar will certainly help us to decide the future course of action”.

Nobel Laureate (2007) Sri R.K. Pachauri in his message for the souvenir said, “Changes in the quality of the environment and the occurrence of disaster are both natural as well as manmade. I hope School of Management Sciences, Lucknow will also consider launching some innovative training programs and courses which focus on the subject of the seminar that is being held. As India moves towards a bigger place in the global economy, it would have to deal with threats emanating from large scale changes in Global energy supply, problems associated with the impact of climate change as well as disasters of various kinds.”

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Madan Mohan Malaviya University in his message for the souvenir said, “Theme of the seminar is quite relevant, when the civilization is facing challenges in respect to energy availability and its utilization with sustainable environment. Excessive exploitation of natural resources has led to different disasters and the mankind is scared of them.”

Secretary and CEO, SMS Sri Sharad Singh requested the experts from various countries to ensure their contribution in preserving the environment of Planet Earth. He further said, “In today’s fast life nobody thinks that we are responsible for these extreme Environmental changes.”

Seminar Convener Dr. B.R. Singh, Director SMS, summarized the proceedings and deliberations of the opening day of the event. Expressing satisfaction that the seminar fully met its objective, He was optimistic that the seminar at Global level would ensure that the future generations would bequeath from us a Planet that is Clean, Green and fit for Human habitation
