Electronics & Communication Engineering

electronics-communication-engineering2

It is an engineering discipline where non-linear and active electrical components such as electron tubes, and semiconductor devices, especially transistors, diodes and integrated circuits, are utilized to design electronic circuits, devices and systems, typically also including passive electrical components and based on printed circuit boards.

The term denotes a broad engineering field that covers important subfields such as analog electronics, digital electronics, consumer electronics, embedded systems and power electronics. In the field of electronic engineering, engineers design and test circuits that use the electromagnetic properties of electrical components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes and transistors to achieve a particular functionality. In designing an integrated circuit, electronics engineers first construct circuit schematics that specify the electrical components and describe the interconnections between them. When completed, VLSI engineers convert the schematics into actual layouts, which map the layers of various conductor and semiconductor materials needed to construct the circuit. The conversion from schematics to layouts requires human fine-tuning to decrease space and power consumption. Once the layout is complete, it can be sent to a fabrication plant for manufacturing.

First year of electronics and engineering course dedicated to teach students about basic engineering techniques such as engineering mathematics, physics, chemistry and engineering drawing to name few. From second year of studies student start to learn about core Electronics and communication engineering subjects like digital electronics and logic design, fundamentals of communication engineering, electronic circuits, signals and systems, power electronics, electromagnetic theory, integrated circuits, VLSI, control systems and computer architecture are just few to mention.

 Electronics and communication engineering course give enormous job opportunities in electronics and software companies. . It also gives great opportunities for research and development, central government, state governments and their sponsored corporations in public sector and in all wings of armed forces and also the private organizations. Such as;

  1.  Indian Engineering Service (IES),
  2.  Indian Telephone Industries, BSNL/ MTNL,
  3. Semiconductor, Chip Design-Industries (Motorola , IBM, HP, STM, Philips, IT etc),
  4.  Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (HPCL / BPCL / IPCL),
  5.  Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC),
  6.  Civil Aviation Department;
  7.  Steel Authority of Indian Limited (SAIL),
  8.  Power Sector (NTPC / NHPC Ltd.),
  9.  Bharat Electronics Limited,
  10.  Indian Railways,
  11.  Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL),
  12.  Software Industries (ALL MNC’S)
  13.  Networking
  14.   Telecom Sector and various other.

 In fact India has emerged as a world class VLSI / Embedded System/digital signal processing design Center & EC engineers of high caliber can find jobs with entry level packages of Rs. 4.5 l.p.a. to Rs. 6.5 l.p.a. (with added specialization) with several MNCs operating in India. Similarly mobile computing, hardware & mobile networking, etc. are other lucrative and high growth areas. Department of  ECE offers a 4-year undergraduate program leading to a B.Tech degree of Gautam Buddha Technical University. The curriculum of this course is designed to meet the current industrial requirements and supported by departments modern laboratories and facilities in all major areas of Electronics and Communication.

The department is well equipped with the following labs for providing full scope for hands-on experience to the students.

  1.   Digital Electronics Lab
  2.   Analog Integrated Circuit (AIC) Lab
  3.   Electronics Lab
  4.   Analog and Digital Communication Lab
  5.   Microprocessor Lab
  6.    Digital Signal Processing(DSP)Lab
  7.    Electronics Workshop & PCB Lab
  8.    Microwave& Optical Communication Engineering Lab
  9.    Project Lab
